DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT ACTS ON ITS PROMISE ON GCU.

Government College, Ughelli is once again a single school! The Delta State Government has implemented its decision to integrate the Junior and Senior Secondary schools under the leadership of one administration and one principal. This information was conveyed to Deacon Gamaliel Onosode, OFR, erstwhile President – General, World-wide by the Delta State Government. It would be recalled Deacon Onosode, OFR tirelessly engaged Government on the need for a single school over the last ten years.

Deacon Onosode, OFR announced government’s decision at the Lagos branch OBA meeting on June 21^st, 2009. “As I Speak” he said, “One of the two principals of the school has been withdrawn and transferred to new duties.” The well-attended Old Boys meeting led by Gen David A. Ejoor (rtd) and other ancient mariners present rose to its feet and gave the news and Deacon Onosode, OFR a rousing applause. It was agreed the right thing had been done by government even as the reach and influence of our ancient mariners were required to achieve this result. It was noted that the intervention of the Lagos branch of the OBA in the restoration works in school may have played a veritable role in convincing Government that the GCU cause is just and that all stakeholders are ready to support the school .
