Great Mariner,
The gods appear to be smiling on us for the BBQ for Saturday - the weather forecast is good. This has been confirmed by cowry and cola-nut oracles and powerful Met Office computers. It should be warm enough to swim so please bring swimming kit at least for the kids. This is promising to be a great occasion when we shall meet GCU old boys and their family members. For example there is a good chance I will be meeting some people I have not seen for nearly 40 years. Our Social Secretary, with the help of the exco, is presently very busy cooking up some delicious surprises for the occasion.

After reading the article ‘’Calling Cupid’’, it made me think , ‘Were things a lot more simple back in the day and less complicated?’
Maybe, but could it be that we were younger, naive and not at all sure about what we wanted, other than to be with someone. Could be that we now have choice which in itself can complicate matters - a bit like whether you eat chicken or turkey for lunch when years ago your only choice may have been chicken.

Previous reference by me to “Ouagadougou” being the capital of Burkina Faso appeared to upset one reader, so in an attempt to make up, I will avoid any references to Ulaanbaatar (UB) being the capital of Mongolia - it simply does not do to upset one’s readers. The Delta State Government has implemented its decision to integrate the Junior and Senior Secondary schools under the leadership of one administration and one principal. This information was conveyed to Deacon Gamaliel Onosode, OFR, erstwhile President – General, World-wide by the Delta State Government. It would be recalled Deacon Onosode, OFR tirelessly engaged Government on the need for a single school over the last ten years.
